Kiva... Loans that change lives!!

http://www.kiva.org/ ... A website which I have been looking into the past couple of days... This a micro lending kind of site.. This is how it works... You get to lend (not donate!!) money to very small scale entrepreneurs who would repay the amount within a certain time frame( say 6-12 mnths) and you can actually use the same money to lend someone else :) So your charitable contribution continues to help people over and over again.. How cool is that !!!

You also get to choose someone to lend to, and then make a loan,by browsing the entrepreneurs' profiles on Kiva.This way U are actually helping a real person make " great strides towards economic independence " and also " improve life for themselves, their family, and their community ".

I just loved the idea of lending money to people who are in real need and when they repay it u can again help more of them.. the coolest part is u can help people over and over without actually burdening yourself ..Money inconsequential to us( like $25) could make a disproportionate difference to a poor person..

Snow Snow and Snow Everywhere!!

Yeh..Snow.. My another dream come true :) We had a snow storm just for one day which left back 24 inches of snow... It was so much fun watching it snow... And as it was my first time it was still more fascinating to me... Our whole community was sparkling and it looked so beautiful with all those yellow lights... It was just fantastic...This place had this much snow after 10 yrs itseems... but the bad thing was i dint get to make a snowman :( it was too difficult for me to go out in this weather.. So im just sitting at home watching movies and getting bored... Wish I had been in Florida :(

All About Movies :)

Hiya guys... Avatar was out today and dint want to miss watching it on the first day :) It was an incredible IMAX 3D experience.. I wouldn't tell that the story was perfect but the graphics in the movie were outstanding... The movie takes u into an another world which feels as if u were in some kind of dream :) Definetly a should watch movie...

After this movie i got to watch another movie on our blue ray player.. Mamma Mia.. which was a pleasant surprise to me :) Never expected that this musical movie would be so beautiful... A simple story with wonderful songs..the movie if full of life and most of all an excellent performance by Meryl Streep who looked awesomely pretty :) This is another should watch movie :) Well on that note here is one of the beautiful songs from the movie :)Enjoy!!

Holiday Fun

It's holiday season and Christmas isn't far away... So I thought I would lay my hands on some baking stuff... It was so exciting to bake a cake...atleast for me....a first timer (: . the most exciting part in baking this cake was that i poured in some Coke :) and it turned out to be a really tasty one :)...

Well on that note here s a pic of the cake( which my frds think of as a cookie :()

and I'm so proud of myself ;)

Long Long Time!!!

Ufff... been so busy that i wasn t able to update my blog... nothing much happening around.. but was busy with a couple of friends and moving around places... watched some movies too..but wasnt much impressed abt the theaters here after being to theaters at my native place... and movies which have come out recently aren't very good... Indian movies are changing so much... just think abt movies frm the late 80 s or 90 s and the movies now... cinemas back then were too good to watch... there s been a drastic change and thats a very big disappointment :(

We recently celebrated our First anniversary and it was so fantastic... i was taken on a surprise trip to Las Vegas... it was so beautiful out there... but any which ways i wasn't very interested in the Casinos there... but apart from the gambling stuff everything else was wonderful... The beauty of the city is during the nights with all the lights and stuff... u ve sot to get a view of the city from the Stratosphere or the Eiffel tower(at Paris Casino).. it was just amazing!!!

We went to the grand canyon too... the drive to grand canyon was horrible cos of the roads and so it was damn tiring... but its worth the strain...u get to see beautiful mountains... u just wouldn't feel like coming back... with proper planning u can enjoy a lot at grand canyon:)

A Dream Come True

Disney Land...This has been one of my childhood dreams...which came true last Saturday :) But it was not that easy to make my dream come true...guess its not easy to make our dream come true...but the experience was really fantastic... Especially the fireworks at the end of the day... i just cannot put my feelings in words... it was awesome...

and this was my last day in Tampa:(

Life moves on from Florida to Jersey

Yes we are moving from Florida, which has been my first home to New Jersey...its all mixed feelings..cos i get to see a new place escaping the Florida Sun...The thing i am mostly excited about is that i get to see the snow... this has been one of my childhood dreams...which hopefully will come true at least this time :) however i feel a bit sentimental about leaving my first home :( but then it s fine..i'm looking forward to have more fun...

Another one will remind you of your junior school grammar teacher who, much to your dislike, spent a whole period telling you how important a comma can be: “Auto, Stand one minute away!”’ Some other signs such as “We do pico and false” make for a good laugh if nothing else, especially when you are stuck in a traffic jam and are on the verge of losing your cool any moment.

But the best ones are the signs that almost seem like the sign board writers had an abundance of letters but no idea where to put them. Check these out: “Diggitall foto library”, “Chaineese fast food” among many others. Guess it’s about time that sign board writers use spell check.

A Virtual Pet

How about having a pet wearing a tuxedo?? Right... a Penguin..Thought it would be cool to have one as a pet..How about a penguin in red?beautiful na?? like the lady in red ;)

• U know Penguins are popular around the world, primarily for their unusually upright, waddling gait and (compared to other birds) lack of fear of humans.
  
  • Penguins either waddle on their feet or slide on their bellies across the snow, a movement called "tobogganing", which conserves energy while moving quickly. They also jump with both feet together if they want to move more quickly.
  • They often huddle together to keep warm and rotate positions to make sure that each penguin gets a turn in the center of the heat pack.
  • They can drink salt water because their supraorbital gland filters excess salt from the bloodstream.
  • The interesting fact about them is when mothers lose a chick(baby penguin), they sometimes attempt to "steal" another mother's chick, usually unsuccessfully as other females in the vicinity assist the defending mother in keeping her chick.
  Well on that note here's my pet penguin Patrice..Isn't he cute?? Look at the way he ogles on your cursor.. all he wants is you to feed him "more" fish!!!
  

For a Start

Phew...atlast my dream of starting blog is starting to take some shape...after numerous attempts of what to name my blog, with the help of my husband named it "NeeluBurra" .Yeh i know its a crazy name..but that's the fun part... Well being a homemaker, sitting at home obviously you would have all sorts of thoughts running around in your head..some might be crazy, some might be totally meaningless and silly and may sound stupid... is it just me who gets all silly thoughts or does it happen to you guys too????


Well posted on the side is some gud music(atleast i think so!!)...so keep listening to them till my next post pops in :)
